Shaezar Deathhand
The lich's lair

Reminder

After defeating the lich, lawful good heroes raided the lair, causing the central staircase to collapse and putting its inhabitants to sleep. Later, Cheliax soldiers led by an Asmodeus priest took Shaezar's magic necromancy staff, Skull, and gave it to their master, Uzhor who needed the powerful staff for an evil ritual.

Dark Sun Sisters
The Return of Necronomus and the Summoning of the Liche

Night fell heavy upon the land, shrouding it in a silence broken only by the rhythmic cadence of footsteps. A procession wound its way along a forgotten road, cloaked in midnight robes and bearing torches that sputtered with green-tinged flame. At the head of this somber parade marched the Dark Sun Sisters—clandestine devotees of ancient magics—bearing with them a prize that pulsed with dreadful power: Necronomus, the liche’s legendary Magical book.

The tome, bound in pallid hide and etched with characters that shimmered as if alive, was cradled in the arms of the First Sister, whose face was obscured by a veil woven from the shadows themselves. Around her, the other Sisters maintained a protective circle, their eyes wary, their lips murmuring protective incantations in a tongue long thought dead. Each step toward Shaezar’s lair brought them closer to ambitions forged in the dark and promises whispered by the long-dead.

Overall atmosphere

The lich’s lair is frozen in time as Shaezar waits for the prophecy to unite the three items. Low-level guards collapse as the lich can no longer sustain them with necrotic energy. Meanwhile, the remaining 'intelligent' undead turn on each other in a brutal massacre leaving almost no guards left.

    Key updates:
  • There are no longer any significant threats; the undead have conflicted among themselves, and the Cheliax expedition removed the remaining guards.
  • The traps have been deactivated.
  • The pyramid (Witch gate) is no longer powered by Shaezar’s necrotic energy. Although weakened, its guards were able to destroy most of the Cheliax expedition before being eliminated. Currently, the gate can be used to teleport to Absalom (to the underground Silent Hall)
The ancient fortress

Upon reaching the summit of the ancient Lair—now reduced to ruins—it becomes apparent that the site is guarded by three Skeletal Drakes circling high above. It appears these creatures are under the command of another figure: an armoured dragonborn prepared for combat.

Echoes Within the Tomb
Where Time Breathes Softly

There is something different and yet all is the same. A sense of life, of warmth can be felt through the walls. The tomb is no longer frozen in time, and some souvenirs of time past can be grasped—softly, as if they might dissolve in the morning light. Shadows flicker along ancient stone, cast by the pulse of memory rather than the arc of the sun. The air, once heavy with stillness, now stirs with the faintest sighs of existence: the whisper of cloth, the echo of footsteps along corridors lined with carved histories.

Seeking guidance from the deceased oracle provides certain insights, although these are customarily presented in a complex and ambiguous manner.

Among the shadows where voices linger longer than the daylight, wisdom lies veiled in ancient rings. Seek not among the bustling corridors nor beneath the silent pillars, for the answer you pursue rests where the circle gathers and echoes awaken. The place of stories, carved by hands old as memory itself, waits—its secrets humming beneath each worn step.

As the heroes entered the amphitheater, with the two remaining artifacts, the ancient prophecy was recalled by all present. The liche’s restoration unfolded in an impressive yet unsettling display: bones reconstructed themselves from nothing, enveloped in shadow-like robes. Its eyes, emitting a cold blue flame, fixed intently on the Sisters. As the ritual reached its climax, the chamber itself began to tremble.

The Sisters completed the final incantation, sacrificing their own vitality to empower the spell. The liche’s form became fully reconstituted, and with a resonant roar that reverberated through the stone walls and beyond, it returned to existence.

Finally, the liche addresses everyone in the room: “You have done well. The reckoning begins anew.”
