The Manticor's Tale

One evening, as the future heroes enjoy their dinner, they are joined by Lorsan, the bard of the Manticor’s tale. He chats, drinks, and laughs with them before mentioning a sense of magic in the air that reminds him of an old story about a dagger seeking someone investing the magic item.

From that point, he began recounting the ancient prophecy.

As the narrative progresses, the ambiance becomes more ominous as the lights fade, the audience falls silent, and the music fades away.

As the story concludes, Lorsan grins, pleased to have impressed not just the heroes but also the entire crowd in the tavern.

Something strange

Attempts a single secret Perception check for you and compares the result to the Deception DC of Lorsan.

Critical Success:Lorsan is concealing something. Additionally, for a musician performing in a tavern like the Manticore’s Tale, he is spending an unusually large amount of gold.

Success:Lorsan is well-dressed, but his purse is too large.

Failure:Lorsan is assured of his narratives, and he has performed well. The entire audience awaits your closing remarks.

Information on Shaezhar's Prophecy

The sole source of information on the Dark Prophecy in Absalom is located in The Forae Logos (Absalom 225), a grand building in the Wise Quarter known for its Azlanti architecture with a flat roof and sharp angles.

A few months back, the Midnight Shadows secretly (it was infact, Thyxelis an active member of the Shadows) submitted a counterfeit prophecy to the Forae Logos library, ensuring it was catalogued and accessible to everyone.

This information can be found

  • In the registries of the library. (Diplomacy check 15)
  • By looking closely the document (Craft check 15)

Other repositories of knowledge in Absalom include
  • College of Mysteries (Absalom 151) - Common
  • Tower of Twin Truths (Absalom 21) - Common
  • Estate of Yargos Gill (Absalom 83) - Common
  • Ahnkamen estate (Absalom 149) - Extremely Rare
  • The Arcanamirium (Absalom 223) - Common
Information on Shaezhar or Shaezhar's Items'

The only available details about Shaezar are found in some historical texts concerning the invasion led by the mage Belcorra Haruvex (4514 AR), in which Shaezar is mentioned as commander.

None of his powerful items are mentioned.

By sheer chance, the library clerk was examining the map of the Absalom Catacombs (Absalom – 6) for another adventurer and came across a location known as Shaezen’s Mirrors, an ancient site renowned for its transformation ritual.

Just for your information, the adventurer associated with the Pathfinder Society was searching for deserted locations where he might discover catacomb coins.

Information on the Shadow Plane

the Shadow Plane is a mysterious and dimly lit dimension that exists alongside the Material Plane. It overlaps with the Material Plane in a similar way to the Ethereal Plane, allowing planar travelers to use the Shadow Plane to cover great distances quickly.

  • Dim Lighting: The plane is perpetually shrouded in darkness, with only faint, ghostly light filtering through.
  • Distorted Perception: Colors, sounds, and other forms of perception are greatly diminished here.
  • Denizens: The plane is home to various creatures, including shades, fetchlings, and umbral dragons.
  • Magic: Magic is both enhanced and impeded in the Shadow Plane, making it a unique environment for spellcasters.

The Shadow Plane is a fascinating and eerie place, often explored by adventurers seeking knowledge, treasure, or simply the thrill of the unknown.

Information provided by Lorsan Qinelis

Shraen

Intrigued by these mysteries (and paid by the Midnight Shadows), Lorsan began to seek information through ancient songs, poems, and legends. He recalled something about a peculiar city called Shraen. Shraen is a city situated in the Black Desert within the Orv, the deepest layer of the Darklands. Originally named Xul-Varathun, Shraen is notable for being the residence of the undead drow of House Shraen, who possess immunity to the blightburn radiation engulfing the Black Desert.

Blightburn radiation is a dangerous environmental hazard found in the Darklands, particularly in the Black Desert. It is emitted by blightburn crystals, which are green-glowing radioactive minerals and causes blightburn sickness, which includes symptoms like increasing frailty, skin sores, hair loss, and brittle bones. Moreover, Blightburn radiation interferes with teleportation spells, making it difficult for even powerful spellcasters to reliably teleport to or from areas with high concentrations of blightburn.
